Barrington Sailing Wins State Championship

The 2021 Rhode Island Sailing State Championship was held on Saturday, May 22nd at Sail Newport. The yearly event is governed by the Interscholastic Sailing Association (ISSA) and hosts teams from across the state for a series of fleet races. Out of the 11 teams in attendance, Barrington High School placed first overall with 50 points combined from Division A and B. 

Skippering for Division A was lone senior Josh Dillon ('21) and Jack Culton ('22) was crew. In Division A the Eagles placed third, falling one point short of second which was taken by Prout. 

Skippering for Division B was Olin Guck ('22) and Nate Schneider ('22) was crew. In Division B the Eagles placed first by 16 points, earning six first place finishes out of nine races. No other school had more than one first place finish. 

Overall, the team edged out North Kingstown by five points to secure the state title. ​
